Just read a blog on here extolling the virtues of the group "caring for china", and certainly any humanitarian group should be praised, but my caring about China comes from a whole different angle. Don't get me wrong--as in any catastrophe, the loss of life is terrible and China's earthquake was horrendous. But in reading about "caring for china's" role in helping, I tried to place that concern for China next to my concern that China will eventually be our number 1 enemy, if they are not already. If you thought the threat of communism was serious during the 50s and 60s, that will be like a walk in the park next to China's present strategic plans to rule the global economy.
The fact that they are "supersizing" their military and sending it around the globe to help nations develop their military defenses; the fact that they are building offensive missle sites in Asia; the fact that it is not a secret that they desire to take Taiwan back; the fact that they have engaged in under-the-ocean naval manuevers; each of these alone should cause our new president great concern. Some day soon we will come face to face with the decision to defend our national interests in the Pacific (Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Austrailia, etc)against Chinese overt aggression. I just hope we are militarily prepared, because I will tell you right now, we are not mentally, economically, or physically prepared to fight the Chinese. Its a battle we will lose.
I hear the candidates talk about Iraq, Iran, terrorists, etc, but the real threat to the United States in this century is China and the threat will soon grow into an all out crisis. Count on it.
